Default New Classes and Old Weapons

The other day I was playing through Nightfall, hoping to pick up a spear with some decent mods I could either salvage or use for my Paragon hero. I picked up a full backpack of drops, and not one spear among them. It was then that it occurred to me that if Guild Wars keeps adding a new weapon set for each new class, the game will quickly become flooded with different weapon types, each of which is basically only useful to one class.

My suggestion is to have some of the new classes included in the upcoming campaigns overlap some of the old classes in their weapon specializations. The possibilities are endless - A "Spellblade" who loads up on Swordsmanship skills and packs a punch with lots of half-range, short-casting-time spells to make a close-ranged spell-slinger. A "Reaper" who combines the Dervish's Scythes with the Necromancer's focus on the darker elements. A "Hexshot" whose skill set is based on bow attacks that afflict the target with hex-like effects if successful.

Of course, the new classes would have to be different enough from the old ones that the Spellblade does not become nothing more than a single-class W/E, the Reaper a D/N, the Hexshot a R/Me. But there seems to be a tremendous amount of potential in the weapon sets that are already in place that is being wasted by limiting use to only one class. Also, this would help to stimulate the game economy, as more players would be interested in buying weapons formerly limited in usefulness to a single class. Finally, this would help to slow down the otherwise inevitable influx of two new weapon sets (or changes to an old one; eg. the Ritualist) with every expansion.

Thoughts?
